Biting the bullet
Hi there. I am known as Fallen (UPDATE 2009-01-26: Krayon now) and I'm a computer-a-holic ![]()
Despite actively using computers since 1987, believe it or not, THIS is my first official Blog posting!
While I have been able to avoid newer technology such as blogs and reality TV up until this point, I now believe I cannot hold out any longer, I must embrace one of them... and it ain't goin' to be the reality TV that's for sure!
I really just need a place to throw random IT knowledge, those little techy gotcha's that keep you in the server room at work until the next morning trying to fix, and of course my own venting rants regarding IT and the world in general.
Follow up:
As time progresses I'll be posting various tech stories, experiences, code snippets and tips for everyone to enjoy.
At one point, I was going to use my business web site DaTaPaX (http://www.datapax.com.au) to store my "blog" although it was just listed under the rather old-fashioned heading "news". I wrote a simple news system that soon had user account support and a whole bunch of unnecessary features. It still wasn't as flexible as some of the excellent blog software out there so I've since decided to just go with one of them instead. I've chosen b2evolution (http://b2evolution.net/) as it seems to be a fairly powerful blogger and I love playing with all it's features!
In case anyone is interested I'm a 25 year-old Software Engineer and System Administrator (depends on the day and job) living in Melbourne Australia. I'm single and yet still don't have much time on my hands! I enjoy computers in general but also like Inline skating and playing music. I mainly use Linux as my desktop operating system these days but still use Windows occasionally in order to support old applications that I've written. VI or Emacs? - VI.
For those interested, here's a picture:

Well, anyway that's just a little rundown of my intentions here and I hope that people will find my future postings of information ... informative
and helpful. Please feel free to comment on anything you read and even ask questions and I will try to answer them where ever possible.
Thanks.
